Old ties run deep. Ivo Cubi returns to Italy often, maintaining his friendships with stone suppliers he has known since childhood and assuring him access to the choicest stones. Today, Ivo and Carlotta also have trusted suppliers far beyond Italy, having built personal relationships around the globe as they choose stone for Cumar, even personally inspecting and hand selecting material for their discerning clientele.

Cumar consultants have strong architectural and engineering backgrounds which, coupled with an intimate working knowledge of stone, enables them to create astonishing two-story fireplace surrounds or a kitchen worthy of a Roman villa. They can design on the grand scale of a magnificent hotel lobby or on the intimate level of mitering standard thickness slabs to look like a four-inch thick slab. In short, Cumar consultants never let the stone limit the possibilities.

Fabrication today goes far beyond chisels and mallets to embrace highly sophisticated equipment. Computer-guided CNC machines and precision, high-pressure water jets can cut to any shape, design, or intricate detail, but experienced craftsmen remain vital. We train and promote our own apprentices, extending Cumar’s ability to handle the most demanding projects and ensuring that every piece of stone that leaves our shop reflects our unparalleled expertise.
