Marble – Elegant & Timeless

The mystique, style, and timeless look of marble has defined luxury for centuries. From ancient civilizations to today’s ultra-modern living spaces, marble is the preferred choice for creating distinctive, enjoyable, and elegant experiences. Marble is a metamorphic material, meaning its formation deep below the earth’s surface is due to dramatic material transformations caused by heat and pressure over time. Minerals including quartz, mica, iron, graphite, and pyrite fuse within the evolving formations to produce natural, beautiful veining of infinite variety and color.

A Luxury Choice for all Surfaces

Because of its warmth and character, marble is a popular choice for countertops, flooring, foyers, fireplaces, walls, stairs, railings, and windowsills. Due to its water resistance, it is well-suited to realize stylish bathroom and kitchen designs in homes, hotels, and restaurants. In the hands of skilled fabricators, marble can be used to create one-of-a-kind works of art including freestanding marble islands, solid marble sinks, and meticulously-crafted bathtubs and shower walls.

Key Considerations

Marble is a softer stone than granite or quartzite, and its patina will change over time as it is worn in. For some people, this trait of showing wear is acceptable, even appealing. For others, it may be better to consider the option of a harder stone. Marble’s porosity and density can vary based on the type, but it typically can resist staining when appropriately sealed and maintained.
Marble can become etched by contact with natural acids in citrus juice, wine, or vinegar. Using a honed finish instead of a polished finish will minimize the effects of etching.  Etching can be managed with quick response to spills and with use of commercially-available repair treatments.
