The second edition of Cumar Day took place on June 22nd at Cumar’s facility.
This is a special day dedicated to team building activities, some housekeeping items, training, constructive feedback and it is especially a way to reinforce the brand identity and Cumar mission among our coworkers:
It is our mission at Cumar to deliver the highest quality craftsmanship and selection of finished natural stone for its discerning customers, setting the standards for excellence in the industry. We will achieve this by continuing to exert our passion for natural stone, great design, technology and safety throughout all our endeavors
Cumar Day has become an essential part of our training programs and of our efforts to create a sense of community aimed at building a strong bond between all who contributes to Cumar’s success day after day.
Here’s a short description of the activities we performed and much more!
Warming up: the “life of a project”. Challenges and successes of a project progression
All Project Managers, Engineers, Salespeople and Installers were grouped together to discuss what are the challenges and successes when working on a project and suggest ways to improve and streamline the whole process step by step. It was a great moment of reflection and constructive feedback, where communication proved to be the key element to overcome issues that may arise while working on a project and the element that enhances cohesion, commitment and success.
Later in the morning: safety first and facility tour.
Safety at work is always a priority at Cumar. We spent part of the morning by instructing our coworkers about what to do in case of an emergency, and to assure that everyone understands the actions to take in order to prevent and minimize risks and danger while at work.
Later, we took a showroom tour stopping by every focal point of the facility that represents an essential step in the internal logistics and operations. This turned out to be a constructive moment since people working in different departments could learn from one another and exchange points of view on how to improve the operation of the showroom or who to refer to in case of special requirements from clients.
Special attention was given to the production department highlighting the state-of-the-art technology and know-how that make Cumar the perfect partner when it comes to custom and one-of-a-kind projects.
Team building challenge: SCAVENGER HUNT
The time to have fun came! With the aim of bringing people together and encouraging collaboration, communication and teamwork, we launched a fun activity that engaged everyone.
Mixed competing teams were created, and the competition started. With people running here and there at Cumar’s facility, trying to move to the next step of the challenge by finding and solving each clue and pushing competition to the next level, it was a huge success! Everyone was truly engaged and was having fun too!
We saw that by channeling the enthusiasm into a fun, inclusive team building activity, employees can bond in a way that is otherwise impossible during every day’s activities and interactions.
Afternoon activity: “6 questions”. Working on emotional intelligence.
After a convivial and fulfilling lunch break, it was time to resume our activities with a focus group. We posed six questions to our coworkers with the aim of gaining feedback on our performance and finding new ways to improve. The six questions were:
- What is most important right now?
- How will we succeed?
- Why do we exist?
- What do we do?
- How do we behave?
- Who must do what?
We loved to hear the voice of everyone stressing that collaboration and a clear definition of responsibilities is what makes Cumar stand out of the crowd for the professionalism and quality of its work.
