Cumar Inc. is proud to be both a sponsor and also the creator of the exceptional award. The careful planning and design of the award has been a labor of love for the Cumar team. From President Ivo Cubi hand-selecting the stone to the intensive work by Fiona Swarovski and her skilled team to embed the Swarovski crystals, we are extremely excited to officially unveil this dramatic and meaningful award.

On September 24th my co-founder of the Over My Shoulder Foundation, the fabulous Grammy Award winning singer Patti Austin flew into Boston. Our task was to create an award to be unveiled at an elegant evening that Design New England is planning for November 3, 2010 to celebrate the concept of mentoring.

The vision of our president Ivo Cubi combined with the talent of stone designer Dawn Carroll and the entire Cumar team have created a stunning stone award.

Internationally-known stone fabricator Cumar, Inc. teamed up with Design New England as a sponsor for the magazine’s Mentors in Design Awards, MIDDIES Award.

Starting as one of the first fabrication shops in the stone industry to purchase a CNC machine, Cumar now has two CNC fabrication machines to precisely cut and finish full projects with computer-generated programming that allows virtually limitless options. A high-pressure water jet cutting machine can make any shape and design imaginable adding even greater versatility to Cumar’s stone work.

With a passion recognized by every one of their clients, Cumar embraces the most challenging projects to make the customer’s vision a reality. Ivo demands his employees master the craft and nothing short of perfection and highest quality are permitted.

Held September 29th through October 2, 2010, the annual Marmomacc Exhibition was yet again the premiere event for the stone industry geared towards promoting the global marble market.
