Granite – Versatile & Durable Stone

Granite is a versatile, durable stone formed deep below the earth’s surface by the compression, intensive heating, and subsequent cooling of molten rock crystals over time.  It is one of the hardest stones in the natural world, harder than marble but less dense than quartzite. Each slab of granite is distinctive in appearance and color, thanks to the seemingly infinite combination of minerals and source stones fused together during formation. With its rich variety of colors and patterns, combined with a legendary resilience and ease of maintenance, granite is a universally-popular choice for interior stone applications.

Ideal for High-traffic and High-use areas.

Busy parts of the home, hotels, and restaurants are ideal locations for the use of granite. Due to its resistance to stains, scratches, and visible wear, granite is a popular choice for countertops, fireplace surrounds, vanity tops, flooring, sinks, and steps. It is also suited to a range of outdoor applications: patios, driveways, entryways, and cooking and dining nooks. Granite’s wide color spectrum allows designers, homeowners, and commercial owners to weave the hues and beautiful color veining of the stone as a focal point for room’s design.

Key Considerations

Even though this stone is known for durability and low maintenance, granite countertops and other surface applications will need occasional resealing. To preserve the non-porous surface, a routine resealing is recommended approximately once a year. When cleaning granite surfaces, do not use alkaline-based, bleach, or acidic cleaning products.
